The cyclone NARGIS, occurred over the Bay of Bengal on May 3rd 2008, it struck Yangon and other parts of Myanmar at a wind speed of about 192 kilometers per hour within a diameter of 240 kilometers. The cyclone was at its high for about 10 hours from early Saturday to noon. The impact of the cyclone is so devastating that more than 30,000 people have been killed in two parts of Yangon and Irrawaddy and about many people are still reported missing. The worst hit are the villages where lakhs of people have become homeless. The cyclone has left the cities totally lifeless and it is difficult to calculate the loss of lives & property. The Irrawaddy delta which was regarded as Myanmar’s Rice Bowl has no more rice to offer its own people.
We at the Indo Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industries would like to request you all to help these victims in any kind of way for early restoration of normalcy. This is the time for all of us to rush to the aid of affected fellow human beings. You could provide them with relief materials like water purifying tablets, mosquito nets, plastic sheets, basic medicines, food, utensils, chlorine tablets, blankets, mosquito repellents, electral powder, umbrella, raincoats, stoves etc.
Your support may not end their ordeal but it would definitely reduce their suffering. Your help will probably bring a smile to these cyclone affected victims and it may also bring back life to normal with the help of many other like minded people.
Come help and let us all make the World a better and a happier place to live.
